Good Quotes:

The politics of fear have brought us everything we were most afraid of.

Dr. Jill Stein

“Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.”

Muhammad Ali

Capitalism has outlived its usefulness. It has brought about a system that takes necessities from the masses to give luxury to the classes. Call it what you may, call it democracy, or call it democratic socialism, but there must be a better distribution of wealth within this country for all of God’s children.

Martin Luther King

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.

Margaret Mead

It’s not pessimism, brother, because this is the blues. We are blues people. The blues aren’t pessimistic. We’re prisoners of hope but we tell the truth and the truth is dark. That’s different.

Cornel West

There's a time when the operation of the machine becomes so odious, makes you so sick at heart, that you can't take part! You can't even passively take part! And you've got to put your bodies upon the gears and upon the wheels…upon the levers, upon all the apparatus, and you've got to make it stop! And you've got to indicate to the people who run it, to the people who own it, that unless you're free, the machine will be prevented from working at all!

Mario Savio

Sproul Hall

"Never, never, never believe any war will be smooth and easy or that anyone who embarks on that strange voyage can measure the tides and hurricanes he will encounter. The statesman who yields to war fever must realize that once the signal is given, he is no longer the master of policy but the slave of unforeseeable and uncontrollable events… incompetent or arrogant commanders, untrustworthy allies, hostile neutrals, malignant fortune, ugly surprise, awful miscalculations."

Winston Churchill

"Any people with contempt for their heritage have lost faith in themselves and no nation can long survive without pride in its traditions."

Winston Churchill

The problem with man is that we have paleolithic emotions; medieval institutions; and god-like technology.

E. O. Wilson

Peace requires the establishment of Justice.

Reconciliation requires the discernment of Truth.

Church of the Saviour

Washington, D. C.

You’re apt to find what you seek.

Peace Pilgrim

Never cooperate with evil.

Gandhi

Obama vs. Romney feels like a contest between two calculating centrists, fighting for the right to serve as figurehead atop a bloated state apparatus that will operate according to the same demented imperial logic irrespective of who wins the White House. - Glenn Greenwald

Power concedes nothing without a demand.

Frederick Douglass

The arc of history does not bend toward justice through capitulation cast as compromise.

Drew Westen

Taxes are what we pay for civilized society.

Oliver Wendell Holmes

Begin Howard Zinn:

You can't be neutral on a moving train.

People who seem to have no power, working people, people of color, women; once they organize and protest and create national movements, then they have a power that no government can suppress.

We don't have to engage in grand, heroic actions to participate in the process of change. Small acts, when multiplied by millions of people, can transform the world.

Voting is marginally useful, but it is a poor substitute for democracy, which requires direct action by concerned citizens.

End Howard Zinn

I may die as one, but I will come back as millions.

Tupac Katari

Information is power. Information is life and death.

Amy Goodman

What is Life?

It is the flash of a firefly in the night.

It is the breath of a buffalo in the wintertime.

It is the little shadow which runs across the grass and loses itself in the sunset.

Last words of Crowfoot

All life has a dimension of the unknown

It is a thing forever unfolding

It is important to consider the possibility that science may have defined life too small.

Anon

In a decaying society,

Art, if it is to be truthful,

Must also reflect decay.

Art must show the world as changeable

And help it to change.

Ernest Fischer

Art is not some optional form of entertainment, or pleasant luxury of civilized life.

It is an essential part of human consciousness and social being.

Ernest Fischer

In modern day abstract art, as in all of creation, there is always a superficial level of comprehension, and there is a deeper level.

Only those who can truly look within themselves are able to scratch the surface of, and begin to recognize the underlying meanings.

Me

The story of life is quicker

Than the blink of an eye.

The story of love is hello and goodbye.

Until we meet again.

Jimi Hendrix

Rachel Maddow’s Silliest Segment Ever Note: This segment has been removed by MSNBC. I guess even they were too embarrassed to leave it out there. - ...in defense of Obama’s Libya intervention. When you go to the dictionary and look up the word ‘sycophant’ the link to this segment should be there. The most convoluted logic of all time to ‘justify’ more war, Obama’s war. She emotionally argues that Republican wars are ‘bad’ wars and Democratic wars are ‘good’. At about 11:55 into this segment, needing some sort of ‘expert corroborating testimony,’ she asks a leading question of Richard Engle of NBC News: “Do you see a strong difference between the character of this intervention and those other ones?” Engle seemingly perplexed at the question,  can’t directly answer. Oops! All he can say is that it was a total surprise, but no corroboration other than to emphasize that the people of Tobruk are relieved. “The Character of the Intervention?” Please! I would expect to hear something like that on Fox, but not until this segment on MSNBC.  “Days not weeks.” So now we know how that went. The bombing was supposed to be for ‘humanitarian’ purposes at the time. But Libyan rebels are now slitting the throats of anyone suspected of being a loyalist. Oh yeah, this was a good Obama war. Libya has gone from the highest standard of living in Africa to the lowest and it will take decades to recover. But the bottom line is that Big Oil now has its hands on that Libyan Sweet Crude. I have to chuckle every time I listen to this segment. She is truly just another celebrity fueled by an infinite ego - with quite a few sycophants of her own. I used to be one of her fans, but this segment was an awakening for me; as well as great entertainment.
